Golf Club of Dublin
An overview.
If you’re a golfer looking for equal parts challenge and fair play, the Golf Club of Dublin is a great place to start. This course is located at the center of a 640-acre residential community in Dublin’s Ballantrae neighborhood with gorgeous villas and condos. Much like its namesake, the Golf Club of Dublin boasts itself as the only true links golf experience in the Midwest, and the Tudor-style clubhouse and Irish-inspired theme set the tone for more authentic golfing. Don’t take my word for it though:
“I play all over Franklin County, and Dublin is known for its greens. Nice facility, good range, and the greens are great. From October to April, this course with its reduced rates is fantastic. There are higher rates and more congestion in the warmer months.”
- Randy R.

Outfitted with enormous greens, the Golf Club of Dublin is fast-paced and square-shaped with fescue turf, stacked stone walls, more than 70 hand-stacked sod-faced bunkers, and water detention areas on nearly every hole. The layout is exceptional, providing golfers with a good pace-of-play on well-maintained grounds. It also provides golfers of all skill levels with a challenge without being unforgiving. If you need to work on your swing or warm up before heading out to the greens, the Golf Club of Dublin has a driving range, putting green, and even instruction from professional golfers.
“I had a blast playing here. Course is in great condition and weeds are cut so losing a ball was minimal considering the long grass in the summer. Very nice course; big hitters should love it.” - User pegbbcds

The Golf Club of Dublin is outfitted for private events and weddings with gorgeous views of the course and plenty of space for up to 200 guests.
The Experience
A value-based assessment.
A prevailing theme among reviewers is the high price for a round. While rates are lower during the off-season, the typical season price is nearly $70 per golfer. However, they do offer special pricing for non-peak hours. Additionally, there are issues with overcrowding and overbooking of the course that result in less-than-pleased visitors:
“This course severely overbooks to the point that it is almost impossible to get even nine holes done in under 2.5-3 hours. I am no speed demon, and I have no problem with rounds in the 4-4.5 hour range, but anything over that begins to get extremely sluggish...but if you absolutely do not care about the amount of time it takes you to play a round, you'll love this place because they really are great.” - Robert G.
Overall, the value you find here is based on your personal preference. The Golf Club of Dublin offers a comfortable facility and a good game, if not a bit pricey. If you’re not too bothered by paying a little more to play during golf season (i.e. April through September), or maybe being squeezed in a little, this course provides a unique golf outing for any occasion.

“It is the most pristine course I've ever played, and no detail is overlooked in how the course is set up and manicured. I was impressed with the course conditions and overall facilities. The clubhouse and course staff were super friendly and accommodating. The elevation changes really challenge you, and you have to be smart off the tee because your misses aren't very easily forgiven. The greens were the best I've ever played and very fast, but they were also very receptive to holding balls. All in, this course was amazing, and I highly recommend playing if ever granted the opportunity!”

The crown jewel among golf courses in the United States, the course hosts the annual PGA Memorial Golf Tournament, which was founded in 1974 by course designer Jack Nicklaus. While posing an extremely difficult challenge for seasoned players through the changing course, it remains easily accessible for average players. The bentgrass course poses an interesting set up for all golfers to enjoy with its broad, sweeping, contoured greens. Since the club is following the Nicklaus Course Modernization Plan, the course is often undergoing renovations that enhance golfer experience like their new 11th hole and three sand bunkers. The elegant complexity of the greens and fairways along with the changes constantly offer new levels of difficulty and excitement at Muirfield without being too punishing. If you’d rather just hit some golf balls, there’s also an 11-acre driving range.

Who wouldn’t want to play on the same course as pro golfers? Of course, like other private golf clubs, you can’t just stop by for a visit if you’d like to play the course. The club does offer additional amenities beyond golf and a great club including a pool, a fitness center, tennis courts, and more, but your decision to join the club as a member will be a pretty personal decision based on your budget and location. There have also been some reviews alluding to expensive dining, so keep that in mind.
“The PGA tournament brings out the best of the course. The prices are high for food and drinks, but the atmosphere balances that out.” - Chris A.
The good news is that you can still enjoy the club during the Memorial Tournament, which is open to the public, so if you’re down for driving golf balls or visiting only once per year (and not being able to actually play the game), then membership shouldn’t be an issue. If you’re interested in learning more about membership, you can contact them to see what options are available for you. You surely won’t be disappointed; it’s the highest rated golf club in Dublin, and it’s known all over the world.
