It’s that time of year again! Summer has ended and the weather is starting to cool down a bit, which means fall is finally here. Leaves start to change colors, and the fall festivities are among us. Live around Dayton or plan to visit there soon? Check out some fun fall/Halloween events you can partake in this season!
Sizemore Farms
Sizemore Farms is a family friendly farm with lots to do. Lots of attractions are available including:

Brimstone Haunted House
The Brimstone Haunted House originally existed as a farm, but eventually became incorporated into more of a haunted place with scary twists and turns at every corner.
Experience spooky activities such as:

- Forgotten forest
- Psychosis
- Zombie assault
- Dead shot paintball
Parking costs $3 dollars at the door, and you will save money by purchasing your tickets online for as low as $5 dollars.
Lewisburg Haunted Cave
What sounds more frightening than a haunted cave?? This haunted cave is located eighty feet below ground in limestone cane! This cave is also the world’s Longest Haunt, with over 30,000 live bats. The cave is also voted best Haunt in the USA by USA Today readers for 2018.
The cave is home to over 30,000 live bats, and features over 500 feet of haunted bridges. Admission costs $16 for adults, and $8 for children 10 and under. Hayrides are $7, and you can find coupons on their website here.
Boo in the Burg
What is Boo in the Burg? Boo in the Burg is an annual downtown “Pub Crawl” celebration hosted by local downtown restaurants and bars. Wear your Halloween costume to this event and get the opportunity to meet some very special characters.
This crawl that takes place in downtown Miamisburg will feature several local businesses, including The Watermark, Star City Brewing Company, Lucky Star Brewery, TJ Chumps, A Taste of Wine, Ron’s Pizza and more. Instead of punch cards, guests will need to download a mobile scavenger hunt app called Eventzee. Eventzee will allow you to scan the QR codes at participating local businesses with the opportunity to earn a completion badge.
At Boo in the Burg, you have the ability to score a number of different prizes. These can include up to $500 in cash, Land of Illusion tickets, and a $500 gift card package from particular participating restaurants, breweries and clubs. There are also multiple locations of this event all throughout Miamisburg so be sure to check them out!
Trunk or Treat Fall Festival
Mack’s Tavern hosts an annual, family-friendly Fall Fest/Trunk or Treat event. The event is typically held in Mack’s Tavern’s parking lot, with a very fun costume contest that takes place with people of all ages. Including toddlers!
To make things even better, a rescue organization brings adoptable dogs and baby goats to pet at the Halloween party. Prizes are also awarded for the best-decorated motorcycle and car, so that might be another fun option you could consider.
Tom’s Maze & Pumpkin Farm
Grown from the ground up, Tom’s Maze & Pumpkin Farm is a place you must check out if you enjoy going to corn mazes. Tom’s Maze is 8 fun filled acres, and more than just a normal corn maze where you can solve the puzzle and escape the maze.

Tom’s Pumpkin Train Ride, which only will cost you an additional $1.00 to take part in, is a family fun ride that lasts for about 10 minutes pulled by a John Deere Tractor. Children of the ages 2 and under are able to ride completely free, and adults are required to pay and ride with children who are 10 and under.
Cowvins Corny Maze
Young Jerseys Dairy holds a corn maze event each year for friends and families of all ages. The maze is created from more than 4 acres of cornfield and has over one mile of paths.
Typically, The maze opens at 11 am everyday to around 6pm. If you plan on being at the maze a little bit later in the day, make sure you’re out by the time it closes before it gets too dark outside!
Cowvins Corny Maze goes through the cornfield and has many different twists and dead-ends. It’s an adventure indeed! The price is currently $8.00 a person for those of the age of 5 and older. Those who are 4 and under are completely free. Children age 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult, and prices will include a wagon ride to and from the maze.
Hauntfest on Fifth
You won’t want to miss the region’s largest and longest running Halloween event! Hauntfest on Fifth Street, an annual fall festivity in Dayton, features live music and DJs, food trucks, beer trucks, and street performers. Halloween costumes are highly encouraged, and you will not want to miss out on the costume contest!
In addition to being an amazing party, Hauntfest also serves as a fundraiser for the Oregon District Business Association to cover improvement efforts in the District throughout the year. The people-watching you can do at the event is enough of a reason to attend, and if you’re feeling the music you can bring your dancing shoes and dance your heart out!
Fall Hiking
Fall is one of the best seasons to go for a hike! Lots of gorgeous scenery, and the weather is just the right temperature around the Dayton area. Never too hot, never too cold.
Check out some of the most gorgeous spots to take a nice nature walk:
- John Bryan State Park: Fall is known as one of the best times of the year to visit this state park in Yellow Springs. You can hike along the Pittsburgh-Cincinnati Stagecoach Trail along the course of the Little Miami River that cuts through the limestone gorge.
- Hills & Dale MetroPark: You can hike this 1.4-mile Adirondack Trail which includes a loop around beautiful Dogwood Pond, a scenic waterfall and a boardwalk through a high-quality forested wetland.
- Sugarcreek MetroPark: This park offers a variety of scenic landscapes as hikers trek further along its many long trails. You can hike the green or orange trails to visit the Osage Orange Tunnel of trees and Three Sisters (three ancient white oak trees) at this park with a variety of trails.
- Englewood MetroPark: At Englewood MetroPark, you can visit the three different waterfalls that give you an amazing view of limestone that dips into a wide ravine. If you continue on a little ways to Patty Falls, you'll see a large rocky waterfall, which is active year-round. Patty Falls is placed right next to cascade stone as well.
Boo & Brew
21 and over? Enjoy drinking beer? Then you’ll definitely want to stop by the Boo & Brew party located at the Dayton mall!
This event is an Annual downtown “Pub Crawl” celebration, and is hosted by local restaurants and bars. Costumes are highly encouraged, so feel free to dress up. You’re guaranteed to see some unique characters, and overall it’s a fun and festive evening packed with music, food & drink specials, free carriage rides and more.

- Each establishment will have live music.
- First Drink at each establishment (well drinks & Domestic beer) is 1/2 off with ticket between the hours 6 – 9p.
- Free appetizer table at each establishment from 6 – 8pm.

Hometown Halloween & Costume Contest
The city of Troy, a part of the Dayton metropolitan area, hosts a Halloween celebration at different businesses throughout the area. All guests are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes!

Wag-O-Ween
If you have a dog and love dressing them up in costumes, you will definitely enjoy this Wag-O-Ween halloween themed event! Join the event for a fun-filled time complete with trick-or-treating for dogs of all sizes and ages on the Walk and Wag course, photo booth ops, adoptable pet introductions and a pet costume contest. The event is typically held outdoors at the Kettering Recreation Complex, if the weather is able to hold up. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held completely indoors.
HallZOOween
This is another Halloween themed event if you love animals, HallZOOween! Aside from walking around the Cincinnati zoo like usual and collecting candy at different stations, kids will get the opportunity to enjoy train rides on the Hogwarts Express, fall-themed food and fun photo stations.
