Cincinnati Enquirer has deemed Cincinnati the best place in America for Oktoberfest for many reasons. Being just the second largest in the world, behind the original in Munich, nearly 500,000 people descend downtown for the amazing weekend festivities. Last year, about 3,600 pounds of sauerkraut and more than 87,000 metts and 80,000 bratwursts were consumed. If that isn’t amazing, we don’t know what is! Besides obviously eating great food and drinking great drinks, there are several crazy and unique Cincy events you won’t want to miss. Don’t miss the Running of the Wieners, The Gemuetlichkeit Games, The Opening Ceremonies, World Brat Eating Championship, Sam Adams Stein Hoisting Championship, World’s Largest Chicken Dance, and so much more.
Location & Times
Oktoberfest runs September 15-17th Downtown on Second and Third Streets between Walnut and Elm. Friday, the event begins at 5:00 pm and runs until 11 pm. Saturday runs from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm and Sunday begins at 11:00 am and ends 9:00 pm. At an event this large, you’ll need to locate the closest garages or prepare to walk a little more than usual.
World’s Best Beer
Obviously, there’s going to be plenty of Marzen on tap and many of Cincy’s best breweries will bring in their trucks to serve the masses. This includes many out of town breweries as well! Cincy will provide many of the hard to find Oktoberfest style lager that so many love!
Whether you’re a seasoned veteran of the festival or a first-timer, this will undoubtedly be an unforgettable weekend. Make Oktoberfest Zinzinnati a new tradition and live nearby to avoid the drive-in! Ask a HER, REALTORS® agent about listings in the beautiful city of Cincy!
