Compared to 2016’s 850,106, Columbus’s population has had a 1% increase in only one year. The city by far reigns as Ohio’s largest. These numbers are well past those of Cleveland and Cincinnati, which are the next contenders. Cleveland and Cincinnati boast 385,809 and 298,800 residents, respectively.
Columbus is growing today, but will they be growing in the future? We can guarantee that too. The city is expected to grow by 30.8% by 2040. The region is predicted to welcome 622,906 new residents in the next 25 years.
The new U.S. census stated the 15 most populous cities as of July 1, 2016. This data scooted Columbus past Indiana’s capital to take the number spot. Indianapolis did manage to stay at the number 15 spot. They rang in with 855,164 residents, just 5,000 shy of the growing Columbus.
Columbus is not the only growing metropolitan area in Ohio to see a population increase. Central Ohio boasts large growth percentages in several areas.
