Starliner Diner

Overview

The Starliner Diner is a unique diner with a unique taste. This one of a kind restaurant wants you to take a break from big chains and enjoy their quirky, kitschy decor. The menu is mostly Cuban inspired; Starliner is known for their breakfast so it’s highly recommended that you feast on their renowned Huevos Rancheros dish. If it’s nice out, you can chow down on their patio.  They’ve even won a few awards to prove how good they are, including the Best Breakfast in Columbus. Local Cantina

Overview

The Local Cantina has several locations around Columbus including one in the Hilliard area! They’re a Mexican restaurant that loves adding their own touch to classic Tex-Mex dishes. Their handcrafted tacos are a must. Try the Cantina Fish taco, a favorite with fried jalapeno slaw and chipotle cream. Get them on Taco Tuesday for $2 all day.

Local Cantina also loves to serve craft beers. They bring them in from all over the world, and several from right here in Ohio. They are mostly served in cans, and there is a philosophy behind this practice: Cans use less energy than glass, they’re easier to recycle, and the unique flavor of these beers is preserved better behind a can than they would be behind glass. The beer list varies by location so you’ll have to check it out when you go! One last important thing: Happy hour is 3 to 6 pm Monday through Friday!

The Olive Tree Mediterranean Café

Overview

The Olive Tree, one of Hilliard’s most popular dining spots, was founded in 2009 by Israeli self-taught chef David Mor. The restaurant’s dishes are all authentic and freshly prepared, served to you in a casual, family-friendly dining setting. Countries like Greece, Spain, Lebanon, Morocco, and Egypt are all represented in the menu, cuisine made with fresh ingredients and Middle Eastern spices. Some guest favorites are the Shawarma, Spicy Gyro, and fresh-baked Spanakopita! On Sunday, traditional Jewish and Mediterranean breakfasts are served until 2:00 pm, including the Shakshuka or the Gyro Omelet. Stop by and enjoy a number of reasonably priced, authentic and exotic dishes!

Louie’s Grill - Fusion Restaurant

Overview

The delectable cuisine on Louie’s menu is a fusion of Mexican, American, Cuban, and Puerto Rican influences. The dishes are creations made from scratch by the restaurant’s very own chef. The extensive menu includes also breakfast, an array of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, pastas, and a kid’s menu! Louie’s is open early for breakfast, starting at 8 am every day of the week. Get the Huevos Rancheros for savory and plain or banana pancakes for sweet! Louie’s burgers range from a classic cheeseburger to the Fiesta Burger topped with avocado and chipotle ranch. Of their fusion entrees, the Cajun Salmon sounds particularly mouthwatering...don’t forget to stop by on Margarita Monday to get the jumbo lime margarita for $5.99. Beer Barrel Pizza and Grill

Overview

Beer Barrel Pizza and Grill’s family owned locations have been open in Ohio for fifty years. They define themselves as a warm and welcoming place to dine with friends and family. Their menu has more than just pizza, including family recipes made from scratch, appetizers and seasonal specials. The ambience, complete with hickory furniture and wood-burning fireplaces, makes Beer Barrel the perfect dinner spot for a chilly autumn night. Beer Barrel is philanthropic too. Each year they support different charities and make in-kind donations to foundations mostly focused on hunger relief in local areas, through their foundation Happy Daz Charities. Happy Hour is Monday - Friday from 2pm to 6pm, when you can enjoy a wide array of classic and craft beers, wines by the bottle or glass, cocktails, martinis, or a refreshing strawberry virgin daiquiri.
