Welcome to Miami University, the Ohio public university that’s dedicated to learning and discovery. Did you know that the name reflects the history of the Native American tribe that once inhabited the Miami Valley region of Ohio? In fact, Miami holds strong ties with the Miami Tribe now located in Oklahoma. The main campus is just 35 miles north of Cincinnati and encompasses a total of 2,138 acres. Offering over 120 areas of study, 60 master’s degree and 13 doctoral degree programs, it’s no wonder Miami holds such a large enrollment and fan base!

The Cradle of Coaches

Miami University has produced star football coaches, assistant coaches, and players throughout the years, earning the popular nickname of Cradle of Coaches. This unique reputation derives from the impact legendary football coaches have left on the field and can still be felt today. Some famous names include Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, Ara Parseghian, Paul Brown, and Sid Gillman. The Association was established in 1971 to acknowledge the role Miamians have played in establishing Miami University as the Cradle of Coaches. Every Miami Alumni who go on to coach or who have coaches are included in this association.

If you’re a student at Miami University or in town visiting someone who is, then you’ll see just why Oxford is the place to be! In the evenings, head down Brick Street just 0.4 miles from the university! This popular hotspot among many college students is beautiful lit at night and has plenty of shopping and restaurants to enjoy. If you’re trying to avoid the college scene, then check out Hanover Winery just 6 miles away, Hueston Woods State Park (a beautiful place to visit during the fall) less than a ½ a mile away, or the Schwab Family Farm Market 2 miles away!
