During the month of October many farms open up to the public for fall festivals and pumpkin picking. Festival weekends on farms include all the fun fall activities everybody is used to such as hay rides, pumpkin picking, bonfires, corn mazes, etc. Larger scale farms have other activities such as ziplines, petting zoos, mini golf, barrel rolling, and more. Maybe your family wants to carve a jack-o-lantern or perhaps paint one. Lynd’s Fruit Farm is a family owned establishment that has been around for several generations. They offer homegrown produce that is sold in the market that begins based on a seasonal schedule. For example, sweetcorn can be bought early August and September which is followed by peaches and nectarines late August to mid September. Apples are available mid August throughout the winter. For the fall, a large variety of pumpkin and squash also come readily available for the public. Lynd’s Fruit Farm also has many fun activities for the whole family! These activities include a farm animal petting zoo, corn mazes, hayrides, and live musical events. Lynd’s is located on 9399 Morse Rd. SW, Pataskala, Ohio and is open 10AM until 6PM Tuesday through Sunday. Worried about the location in correlation to your home? Don’t worry, the drive to Lynd’s from Columbus is only twenty minutes!



Pigeon Roost Farm

This year is a special one for Pigeon Roost Farm as they celebrate their 39th year of family farm fun! They recognize that Autumn washes away the heat of summer with cool breezes and fresh air leaving room for plenty of fun fall activities. At Pigeon Roost Farm, they offer activities such as hay rides, spooky face paintings, pumpkin picking, jack-o-lantern carving, and so many more! Pigeon Roost Farm opens on September 15 and concludes its season on Halloween. They are open 10 AM until 7 PM Tuesday through Sunday. Pigeon Roost is located on 4413 National Rd. SW, Hebron, Ohio and is only a thirty minute drive from Columbus. 

Leeds Farm

Spend the day getting plenty of fresh air and having fun as a family at Leed’s Farm! You can participate in activities such as selecting the perfect pumpkin from the pumpkin patch or maybe enjoy a nice relaxing tractor-drawn hayride around the farm. Other activities include feeding farm animals, the pumpkin jump, zip lines, slides, and of course thousands of pumpkins available for carving. Unfortunately, this year has seen some changes due to Covid-19. The annual witches night has had to be postponed until 2021 but the farm is still allowing its patrons to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes if they wish on Halloween! 




Leeds Farm is located at 8738 Marysville Rd. Ostrander, Ohio 43061. They are open weekends from 10 AM until 5 PM starting September 19 until Halloween. The drive to the farm is thirty minutes away from Columbus!



Hidden Creek Farm

Hidden Creek has been a family owned and operated farm since 1995. They grow a large selection of pumpkins from green, blue, white, and every shade of orange. They encourage their guests to come and enjoy a day with the family where you can participate in activities such as taking a hayride through the pumpkin patch or letting the little ones enjoy the playground area that includes the great pumpkin slide, the pumpkin tunnel, farm animal friends, and many more fun activities. Hidden Creek Farm is less than thirty minutes from Columbus and is located at 581 S. Galena Rd. Sunbury, Ohio 43074. The Fall Festival Weekends begin September 21 through October 27 Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM until 6 PM. 


Circle S Farms

Circle S Farms is a family fruit and pumpkin farm that specializes in all things fall and fruit. The farm allows you to pick your own strawberries, raspberries, and of course pumpkins. A visit to Circle S Farms is a special experience for those who rarely have contact with agriculture and crop production in general. But that isn’t all! The farm also features Fall Fun Days that include group hayrides, a petting zoo, corn and sunflower mazes, as well as delicious treats like apple cider, cookies, donuts, and more! The farm is open September 26 through Halloween and is open everyday from 9 AM until 7 PM. Circle S is located at 9015 London Groveport Rd. Grove City, Ohio 43123.

Schacht Farm Market

This family owned market gives it guests a “Pick Your Own” pumpkin experience throughout the fall season as well as provides quality, homegrown produce which includes potatoes, squash, apples, and more. The Schacht Farm is a wonderful place to take the family for the day to pick out the annual pumpkin to later turn into a jack-o-lantern! The market is located on 5950 Shannon Rd. Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110 and is open daily from 10 AM until 6 PM. 



deMonye’s Greenhouse

This greenhouse offers the usual flowers and plants that you would expect from a greenhouse, while also giving its customers the opportunity to pick pumpkins. Unfortunately this season, due to covid, the haunted Halloween house and fall festival for kids will be cancelled. They will of course still be open for fall plants and fall decorations as usual! deMonye’s is located at 2500 Airport Dr. Columbus, Ohio 43219. They are open everyday from 8 AM until 6 PM. Make sure to stop in for some festive decorations and pumpkins!

Oakland Nursery

With locations in Columbus, Delaware, Dublin, and New Albany, there is sure to be an Oakland Nursery near you! This year, Oakland Nursery is celebrating its 40th annual Fall Festival. This festival is a two day event and begins on October 10 and concludes on October 11. The festival includes activities such as all-you-can-carry pumpkins, door prizes, and sales throughout the entire nursery. There is also a Fall Kickoff Auction that begins on September 11th that includes a silent auction for plants in the nursery. Once this event concludes, food trucks will be set up for you and your family to enjoy but are only available at the Dublin location. As the season changes from summer to fall, so does the produce and activities that are present on Miller’s farm. In September, Miller’s Country Garden has apples, winter squash, Indian corn, and fresh apple cider. The month of October brings with it pumpkins, perfect for making pumpkin pies, and decorations for jack-o-lanterns for Halloween. On Saturdays and Sundays in October, you and your family can take a ride in the hay wagon through the pumpkin field to pick your very own pumpkin. Jacquemin Farms offer pumpkin picking, a straw maze, and plenty of fall decorations to get you and your family in the fall mood. Kuhlwein’s farm is a local Ohio farmers market located at 1859 Walker Rd. Hilliard, Ohio. Kuhlwein’s offers attractions such as hayrides, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and petting zoos. This is a great market and overall place to spend a cool fall day with the family enjoying everything Kuhlwein’s has to offer. They also have plenty of places for great photo opportunities for the little ones as well as fresh produce that are enjoyed in the fall.

The family fun event held at Emswiler Farms called Pumpkinpalooza is an annual occasion that is loved by everybody. Some of the events featured at the farm include hayrides, pumpkin picking, S’miles ‘n Sunflowers, and many more. Emswiler’s Pumpkinpalooza is fun for the whole family!
